Heat burns are caused by contact with hot surfaces, liquids, or flames, leading to skin or tissue damage. These burns can range from mild irritation to severe, life-threatening injuries. Prompt treatment is essential for serious burns to prevent complications. Protective gear, such as gloves and durable clothing, can help reduce the risk of heat burns, particularly in motorcycle accidents where exposure to hot parts like exhaust pipes is a concern.

What are the three different types of burns?

1st-degree burns

1st-degree burns minor injury that affects only the outer layer of the skin, causing redness and mild pain.

2nd-degree

2nd-degree burns affect both the first and the second layer of skin, which may cause swelling and red, white or blotchy skin. Blisters can develop following second-degree burns and pain can be severe. Deep second-degree burns can cause permanent scarring.

3rd-degree burns

3rd-degree burns reach the fat layer beneath the skin. Burned areas may be black, brown or white. The skin may look leathery, and this type of severe burn can destroy nerves, causing the loss of sensation or feeling in a part of your body.
